What I did today.

Post by chevelle3454 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 3:51 pm

Ok I saw this thread on 3SI so I thought I would bring it to our forum. The point of this thread is to post anything you have done that's car related. So instead of making separate threads for small upgrades, post it up on here with what you did and maybe some pictures.

So I will start this thread off, today I relocated my Cruise control from my fire wall to Right under the drivers side headlight. I also relocated the relay box for the cruise control to right next to my alternator. Why did I do this, because it cleans up the fire wall and the drivers side motor mount area.

Today I got my second gen rear bumper and driver side door cap and side skirt put on can't do the passenger side till the car is out of the garage lol. Also got my big tyler ground wires on, I was kinda disappointed with these. The wire that runs from the throttle body to the battery terminal was to short so I had to bed the eye hole to make it fit. Also does anyone know what bolt you are supposed to hook the one that goes from the terminal to the trans?

Hmm I thought that was supposed to be a REALLY well put together kit. I also thought the guy sent you an Email after you buy the kit, that tells you where every ground cable goes.

I took the trash out from the center console and threw it into the trash can in the alley - that was pushing my skill level to the max with these cars.

Don't get me wrong the kit is pretty nice, maybe I am just to nit picky about things. It does come with direction but my stock trans ground wire goes down to one of the bolts on the starter the new one isn't nearly that long.

I first got one at Home Depot, but didn't like it due to the "hose barbs" or whatever you call them being overly pronounced. This one I found at Fleet Farm. I had to cut the end down that goes into the intake bubble.

The trickier part of my little project though is the hose. It is 1.25" ID. I couldn't find anything good at autoparts stores. I tried a few coolant hoses but they are quite bulky. And they have that waxy coating inside. I then tried fuel filler hose I found at NAPA. That is some stiff hose. And also thick. Then I hit up MA Performance for some silicone couplers. They don't stock them that small. In the end I ended up ordering a 2' length of silicone hose and cutting the pieces I needed.

I'll let you buy some of that perfectly cut to length if you need any.

Finishing up installing my Tein S techs. Forgot to cut the bump stops on the front, is that going to cause any major issues? I'm assuming I'm going to lose travel on the strut and cause a stiffer ride?

I never cut mine when I installed my H tech (forgot to tell the shop) but I never noticed a difference.

Glad to hear it. I'm figuring I won't either, unless I start off roading it or hitting every pothole in town. Which I don't plan on doing either one.

I actually did this over the weekend... Anyway, I installed a polished plenum and valve cover I ordered from 3sx at their "shine on" sale price. I also installed a 3sx intake bracket. No more floppy intake. :D
