2G VR4 Radiator Advice

Post by malamore » Mon Jun 09, 2014 6:15 pm

I need to replace the radiator in my 95 VR4 Spyder. I'm not doing a lot of mods to it so I don't need a high performance unit but want better than stock. Any recommendations or any experience with 3SX's radiator(http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewI ... duct=27300" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)?

Thanks, Aric

Why does it need replacing? Does it have a leak? You rarely see 3/S radiators being replaced unless its a super high mileage car.

It may be two separate issues you have, but a leaking radiator will not throw a check engine light.

If the radiator is leaking, then yes, replace it. But there is something else going on as well to throw a CEL.

What are other issues that could result in a coolant CEL?

First, could you let us know which light on your dash is actually on?

Light number 18 is the actual "check engine light". Light number 29 is the coolant level low light.

If you in fact have number 18 illuminated. It could be any number of things. It can be related to your radiator leaking like a Coolant temp sensor malfunction. Or completely unrelated to your leak. Something like a bad o2 sensor, or mass airflow sensor.

Steve - Let me be more clear - I have 18 and 29. The coolant level is fine.

If 29 is lite up, then your coolant level isn't fine. The coolant level in a 3/S is super picky. Make sure the overflow bottle is at the max line and coolant is touching the cap. Then run your car and see if it sucks from the overflow. Then let car cool down. Then check overflow and cap again. Repeat if needed.

Check engine light is likely an entirely separate issue.

So... 3SX just put their radiators up for sale. $40 off instantly AND if you use the "MYSHIPCODE" discount code, you will get free shipping.

Lucky time to have a radiator leak if you ask me. :D
