Anyone replace their 2G eclipse/talon oil pan?

Post by KC » Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:34 pm

I am in the process of replacing the oil pan and I have all the bolts removed and the cross member removed. But I was wondering if I need to remove the front exhaust pipe, like chiltons/haynes suggests? The bolts look really rusty, and I would prefer not to mess with it. Anyone have experiance with this?

Does it look like you have enough room to remove the pan without taking it off? The pan will have to come straight down a bit. You can't just slide it straight off. You will probably have to at least drop the downpipe (disconnect it from the O2 housing or manifold sides, leave it bolted to the cat, and let it hang) to get enough room to pull the pan.

Thanks, I am going to try and just disconnect it from the manafold and drop it down a bit. Those bolts look NASTY though. My luck...SNAP!

Well, I don't know about the NT motors, but I do know the downpipe NEEDS to come off for the turbo motors.
