I have a question about W7 for those of you in the know. Ever since I went to Vista I've been having issues with losing connection to my Network Attached Storage as well as my networked printer. Never had issues with this on my XP laptop. Doing some cursory browsing it seems that this is a common issue with Vista. Is this something that is known to work better with W7? I've read that Best Buy will take pre-orders for $49 starting 6/26 and I'm thinking about getting in on this. Seems like a reasonable price.

Some details in case it matters:
Issue is present with both Vista SP1 & SP2
NAS is D-Link DNS-323
Printer with issue is networked HP photo printer
Non networked HP printer works flawlessly through a Linksys PSUS4 print server
NAS and printers are on wired LAN
Vista Laptop is wireless
Router is D-Link DIR-655
Vista Laptop is LenovoY730, presently running SP2
Laptops that I've run without problems using XP were various generations of Thinkpads, most recently a T42.

I have no experience with that issue, but there have been a few network problems with Vista. As of June 26th every computer purchased at Best Buy will get a FREE upgrade to Windows 7 (except those with Vista Basic). Vista Home Premium will go to Windows 7 Home Premium, Vista Business to 7 Pro, and Ultimate to Ultimate. Otherwise for a couple weeks and a couple weeks only you'll be able to pre-order it through Best Buy for $50.

Yeah, I also had major issues with Vista networking. It couldn't even keep a connection alive to itself via it's own share. WTF? I was using that machine as a media PC, sold it, and bought a Mac Mini. Couldn't be happier. Boxee FTW!

I still use Windows XP at work, but I can't wait to try Windows 7!
