Anyone ever hear of one freezing up after you wash the engine?

I've never heard of it, but then again i've never heard of anyone washing their engine bay in winter either. I suppose its possible, but not likely. A starter motor is pretty powerful. I would say its more likely that you shorted something out.

This may or may not be your problem, but when I had problems with my starter it was the wire that runs to the solenoid. I cleaned up the connection at the starter, and the connection under the air filter, and it hasn't come back since.

I'd put my money on you shorting something or something coming loose. Tell us your symptoms.

Was going to trade in my dodge for a avalanche. Took it for 3 days and 2 of them the thing wouldn't start. They thought it was a dead battery so they came out with a charger, but was holding a charge. The truck wouldn't make a noise when you turned the key over. They had it towed there and had it for 15 minutes and tried it again and it started. There reasoning was when they pressure washed the engine it froze the starter when I left it outside over night. They wanted to keep it over night but I left the next day for Canada and didn't want to only have 3 days to test drive it so they let me have it and it did the same thing next morning. Was wondering if it was serious or where they telling the truth.

I suppose it would be possible for water to get onto the gears in the starter since there isn't a gasket, but in my opinion, 15 minutes inside wouldn't be enough to thaw it out if there really was enough ice in it to keep it from turning.

Sounds more like a flat spot in the starter, or something that is intermitent. Could be a flat spot or the selinoid. I have never herd of a starter "freezing up" like they said it did.

Even if the starter was "frozen" you would still hear a click from the solenoid when turning the key. Sounds to me like there is a bad connection somewhere.

I don't think we've got a firm date for the Tuesday meets to start, but I'm sure it'll be sometime in early April. Cars & Coffee will also start the first Saturday of April, if I remember right.

I'm guessing the first Tuesday meet will be in April sometime. We'll see how long it takes to melt all this snow. ;)
